Beyond Your Comfort Zone
In Israel this past week I heard someone say, “Life begins beyond your comfort zone.”
It spoke to me because I felt like I was stretching all week beyond my comfort zone, choosing life and expanding beyond my perceived boundaries.
Reflecting on the idea of a “comfort zone,” it occurred to me that maybe I make up what I define as my comfort zone. I mean, who decides what is in or outside of my comfort zone? ME!
There’s no real place called “comfort zone.” It’s different for everyone. What defines it is the thought-created reality I experience moment to moment and believe to be true.
I decide that this action or that step is beyond my comfort zone. What if there really isn’t a defined place where comfort ends and discomfort begins?
If I believe discomfort is a problem, then I may never stretch. But if discomfort is just a feeling, it will pass through my system like thought flowing down the stream.
Since hearing that line, my relationship to going beyond my comfort zone has shifted. I envision embracing life and not being imprisoned by that illusory place called a comfort zone. From here, anything is possible.
